Homemade Baked Mozzarella Sticks

I am so tired!  I had a Junior League General Membership Meeting last night, and it was so great to see some of my friends.  We’ve all been so busy these days that we hardly ever see each other.  I have another JLA meeting tonight, so I’ll get to see everyone again!

I made these mozzarella sticks on Sunday night.  My menu is all sorts of screwed up, because of some schedule changes and last minute change of plans.  I think we’re back on track now though…

Homemade Baked Mozzarella Sticks {my own recipe}

Ingredients:

  • 1 ball of mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 box of Kraft Oven Fry
  • 1/8 cup marinara sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a cookie sheet with olive oil.
  2. Cut the mozzarella into long pieces.
  3. Beat the 2 eggs in one bowl.  In another dump the Oven Fry.
  4. Coat each piece in the egg and then toss in the Oven Fry.  Place on the cookie sheet and repeat until all of the mozzarella slices are done.
  5. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Serve with marinara sauce.

Grade: A

Comments: These were good, and I definitely liked them more than the fried version at most restaurants.  They tasted much lighter.  The Oven Fry was a good choice, because it was already seasoned.  It gave the mozzarella sticks a good flavor without being overbearing or boring.  They would make a great appetizer or side dish.  I ended up eating mine with a large salad.
